Formed in Vancouver circa 2018, Birdmaker is the newest pop rock sensation to emerge from the West Coast music scene. Birdmaker began as a collaboration between Adam Gagan and Laura Howat, coworkers with a shared passion for writing and performing music, before being joined by Shaun Crocker Williams on drums to complete the line up.
Readying to debut in the Lower Mainland of BC, Birdmaker soon found themselves swept up in the pandemic with the rest of the world, dashing their hopes for live shows in 2020. This Coincided with the demolition of their rehearsal space leaving Birdmaker without a place to call home and in need of a new drummer. Instead of giving up, the band went under a temporary hiatus during the shutdown, in search of a new home to plant their gear and resume the project. As luck would have it, their soon to be drummer, Shaun Crocker Williams, who shared Birdmaker’s old space, was also looking for a new room and project. Thus the Trio was born. Retaking up their instruments the second it was safe to do so and reinvigorated by the reunion, the members of Birdmaker began jamming as much as they could, building the chemistry and tightness needed to break back into freshly opened music scene with a bang.
Since the summer of 2022, Birdmaker has played several shows including opening for another local band at The Roxy on Granville Street, and is now working on recording and releasing a 6-song EP.
